Ezekiel 1 — The Throne Vision
The Throne Above the Firmament
The book opens with a stunning revelation by the River Chebar. Ezekiel sees a stormy wind coming from the north, a great cloud with flashing fire, and surrounding brightness. Within it are four living creatures and wheels within wheels moving in perfect divine harmony.
Above the firmament over their heads is the likeness of a throne, and upon the likeness of the throne is the appearance of a Man high above—radiant with the glory of the Lord.
Majesty and Sovereign Direction
The vision teaches that despite earthly empires ruling in exile, God is seated on a supreme throne directing all history with absolute sovereignty and unsearchable holiness.
